$12 Million Gift to Campaign for IIT from Caryl Pucci Rettaliata

In honor of her late husband, John Rettaliata (IIT's president from 1952-1973), Caryl Pucci Rettaliata made a $12 million gift to Fueling Innovation: The Campaign for IIT.

This commitment will fund extensive renovations that will create new collaborative educational and laboratory spaces in the Engineering-1 building, which will be renamed the John T. Rettaliata Engineering Center when renovations are complete. Originally constructed during Dr. Rettaliata's tenure as president, it has been home to the IIT Armour College of Engineering. The project will ensure that the building is equipped to deliver a cutting-edge education for IIT’s largest undergraduate population: its engineering undergraduates. In addition, the gift will fully endow the John T. Rettaliata Distinguished Professorship of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, held by Hassan Nagib.
